Or, why are men rewarded for their incompetence?

I can see the reaction on some faces. Patrick was too long under the sun. No. I was not. We finished 2 Startup Weekends Refugee Edition in 9 days and are now preparing 2 Startup Weekends Women Edition. One in Adana and one in our own space, Urla Coworking. We are strongly aiming at having more women in the startup scene. To our surprise, we still see too many men and rarely Women Founders. There are a lot of reasons, from culture to politics to education. In all the companies I run, I was always looking for female managers because they are better. Sorry for the men who feel different. In my experience, I saw most men being arrogant, manipulative and risk-prone. Women, on the other hand, are modest, sensitive and considerate. Of course, not all are what I describe. Luckily, but the cliches are often true too many times.

Startups are always surprised why I push for female cofounders or female managers. Those men immediately go in defence whereas I just want to point out that this choice strengthens their activity in order to become more successful. The glass ceiling is built by men out of defence for their own incompetence. Good luck to those men. Investors today also read reports and they say that women founders have a 10% better performance in cumulative revenue over 5 years. Eat that. Women founders are also more successful in going from an idea towards a running company with profit. Google it, you will be surprised.

We were very happy we could convince Adana Çukurova University Teknokent/TTO to organise a Startup Weekend Women Edition and of course, we will do one in our own space!

You might have heard the song 1 in a Million but for the email subject, I choose More than a Woman from Aaliyah. See it as a tribute to a great artist, who died at 22 in a plane crash. Listen here, the video got many awards.
