Art, craft and technology and why not innovation and sustainability. In Urla.
Since we started Stagecoworking, our bootstrapped coworking space in Urla, Turkiye, we met unbelieve and enthusiasm. Somehow Urla is a very well known town with around 50.000 inhabitants and appreciated for its authenticity and great wines. Agriculture and tourism provide bread and butter for the locals. The Izmir people only want to come to eat and drink as too far while I remember that Brussels in Belgium attracted people within a range of 30 km without any problem. We have one very good university at 10km so that is a plus. The audience we mainly target are the people who moved to Urla from Istanbul, Ankara or other cities and can appreciate the calm and good life in this region. So again we are experiencing the challenge of community building just like we started Stage-Co six years ago. The same challenge but this time more experienced.
We organised up until now 6 workshops and 2 happy hours and each time connecting with new people and enjoying the WOM. Pelin and Neşen are doing a great job and their enthusiasm and focus are contagious. Community building starts with a great idea, based on a perceived need, and taking initiatives. People don’t just come because you open the door. They come when you reach out with great meetups and workshops. Very curious how this will evolve, starting very promising thanks to hard work. The only way to build a community is based on reaching out with an open mind and heart. Six hundred thousand olive trees are ready to help us. Amin.
Like the son of the famous father sings, Water and Oil are hard to mix. When you use centrifugal power you can even make margarine from these 2 ingredients. Nothing is impossible and Ziggy Marley created some strong lyrics around this seemly impossible task although he has good reasons why they don’t. Listen here!
